Route E - Have your say
Overview
The Arlen Hill City Council invites your feedback on our proposed designs for cycling and walking routes between Riverbend Station and the Arlen Health Hub (AHH).
Our proposals to enhance this area include:
- Planting shrubs and flowers
- Installing new lighting
- Resurfacing and expanding pathways
- Adding benches
- Removing unused phone boxes and other clutter
- Installing signage and wayfinding systems
We are excited to share our vision for the area leading to and from Riverbend Station and will be asking questions based on these design elements during the consultation.
Background
Arlen Hill City Council has secured a £14.1 million investment from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund to transform public transport access to the Arlen Health Hub (AHH). This facility is under development and aims to become a leading center for health research and treatment, creating 13,000 new jobs in health, science, education, and construction.
Riverbend Station, located on Main Avenue, is a ten-minute walk from the Arlen Health Hub. Currently, train service is limited, with only two connections every hour, and there is no clear walking or cycling route.
We are collaborating with Network Rail to double train services from two to four trains per hour, including additional direct connections between Riverbend Station and Arlen Central. We are also working to improve the station with step-free access and encourage more sustainable travel options like walking and cycling.
